Monuments

The Palacký monument is a major work of Stanislav Sucharda. He worked on it for 12 years until its unveiling in 1912. The most interesting sculptural unification is the unification of Palacký in stone and the surrounding sculptures in bronze. At the time, this monument was the largest in Europe. In addition to the Prague monument to František Palacký (1901–1912), Suchard's monumental work includes realized monuments by Jan Amos Komenský in Nová Paka (1912), composer Karel Bendl in Bubeneč (1914), Jan Hus in Pečky and the Railway (designed 1913–1915). Sucharda is also the author of many tombstones and portraits made in a variety of materials. Stanislav Sucharda was the restorer of Czech medal making. During his life, he created dozens of reliefs, medals, and plaques, including Spring (1904), Přástky (1906), jubilee, and honorary plaques of the city of Prague (1909, 1910, 1912). Suchard's metal art has been honored at a number of international exhibitions (1904 St. Louis, 1904 Munich, 1910 Brussels, 1913 Ghent). In 1915 he was appointed professor of the medal school of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
